REQUIREMENT

 

Cell phones are being extensively used now for communication. The penetration of cell phones is seen in almost all spheres of activity both in urban and rural areas. In the urban areas the cell phones finds a significant use both for business and social purposes with many depending on it for their day to day affairs too. In rural areas the cell phone is not only used for social purposes but for their daily livelihood too. The agriculturist, fisherman, vegetable producers etc. from the rural areas use the cell phone for negotiating best prices for their produce to earn a good return.

 

A charged cell phone for the rural area users ensures seamless communication important for their livelihood. Electricity is not always available in rural areas and absence of it will lead to uncharged cell phones and can lead to bad negotiation of prices of their produce or a total loss. An alternative method to charge the phones is using a Charging station powered by solar energy. This design ensures that irrespective of electricity availability cell phones can be charged for a small fee. The equipment owner also earns a good source of revenue ! 

 

TARGET AREA / POPULATION

 

The target area is for cell phone users where electricity is irregular / absent like Rural places hilly areas and difficult locations.

 

INNOVATION and DESIGN FACTOR

 

The innovation factor in the system are ;

 

  • Design of a rugged solar power pack with back up for charging cell phones.

  • Indepenedent user lockable pigeon holes with multi socket for connecting phones

  • To design a Low cost and user friendly system.

  • Provide an inbuilt protection and control circuit for adequate safety of phones.

  • Make the system fully portable and user locatable device.

  • To have auxillary grid power charging and hybrid input.
